Are you smiling? Yellow is such a bright and intense colour that it immediately grabs your attention. It invokes strong feelings of happiness and optimism….a great choice for a wedding, and not one that you see often.
I usually attempt to dress tonally, but my options were restricted for this Willow Tree Estate wedding. That was just 3 weeks before the birth and literally, nothing fit me. I had to rip the slip on this dress just to get it over my bump. At one point during the ceremony, this big girl lost her breath and had to step into the shade before continuing. Everyone was very sympathetic. Despite all the challenges, I managed to pull off a great ceremony that reflected the couple’s personalities cause that’s what being a professional is all about.
Cathy emailed me to say, “Our families and friends felt you were the right fit for our small wedding and that the tone matched our event. Thank you again for your patience through the wedding process, during a very stressful year for us, and for your warmth, joy, and passion for weddings and unions. For us, it was always about the people we shared our day with and we are glad we found you. ”
“To be noticed without striving to be noticed, this is what elegance is about.” — Luciano Barbera
Ben and the boys striding toward me made me go weak in the knees. Well, I was pregnant at the time so my hormones were definitely raging!
BUT seriously, you can’t deny that men in tuxedos always look so….
SEXY
SUAVE
SOPHISTICATED
Maybe it’s because they are somehow reminiscent of James Bond.
Tuxes give the impression that they have their shit together and I’m a big fan!
“Is there still time to run?” Gosh, I don’t love it when the well-intentioned best man inevitably makes this joke to the groom before the ceremony.
It’s a bit less offensive when a cute page boy carries it on a sign up the aisle but it still makes my feminist sensibilities tingle.
I realise that it was meant as a joke, and in this case, I understand that the bride is involved in it as she probably purchased the sign.
What’s ironic is….
Cathy is authentic, genuine, and easygoing.
She is inquisitive: interested in asking questions and skilled at guiding conversations past chit-chat to a deeper level.
Cathy is resilient and determined. When she sets her sights on something, she’ll work hard until she achieves it.
She has a give-it-a-go attitude and an adventurous spirit. When Ben invited Cathy out for an early morning kayak….(a chance to show off his 6 pack I think!) he was impressed when she confidently jumped in and took off around the lake on his racing kayak which is notoriously difficult for beginners.
Ben has never for a moment doubted his love for her or the bond that they have. She is everything he has ever wanted in a partner: someone who is, independent, a good listener, and thoughtful.
Cathy is a mega-catch and Ben knows it, so there is zero chance he’d be running anywhere, except to the signing table to lock it down and make it official, as quickly as possible.
