I have a little secret……My most magnificent weddings tend to be the trickiest to capture in words. It’s a procrastinator’s conundrum, really. I find myself hesitating, paralysed by the fear that my words won’t do justice to the couple’s wonderful wedding.
When I realised that Barry and Kimberley had already hit their one-year milestone, I was shook! A whole year gone by, and not a single share of their breathtaking photos. I slapped myself on my wrist, for I have been a bold gal! The world deserves to see their stunnng wedding.
What struck me first when I looked at the photos was the COLOUR PALETTE. They decided to ditch the usual wedding colour suspects and went all-in with a mix that was so unique. I’ve never seen purple, red, and gold before.
Purple, the colour of royalty, was like their way of saying, “Yeah, we’re a big deal.” It added a touch of elegance and a sense of profound love to the whole shebang.
Red, the colour of passion and all things fiery, was like a neon sign that said, “Love’s on fire here!”. It brought an intense, romantic vibe to the day, shouting out loud that their hearts were totally smitten.
The gold touches were like the bling-bling icing on their wedding cake. Think of it as their way of saying, “Our love is pure gold.”
So, their wedding day at Circa 1876 Wedding Venue wasn’t just a celebration of their love; it was a colour explosion that spoke volumes about their personalities and the vibrant connection they share.
Who needs words when you’ve got these fantastic shades to tell their love story, right?
Well, normally, I’m all about sharing the ceremony words with the couple in advance to make sure I’ve got everything right. However, Barry and Kimberley decided to take a detour from the norm, and boy, was it a delightful surprise for all of us!
They tossed that idea out the window and said, “Hey, we trust you….let’s go for the grand reveal on the day!” Consequently, there I was, with their love story all wrapped up like a big surprise gift for them 🎁
The moment they heard those heartfelt words, you could see the love and laughter light up their faces. The gasps, the smiles, the tears of joy from them and their guests – it was pure magic!
The parent-step-parent wedding is a beautiful blend of love and family dynamics.
On the emotional rollercoaster scale, the kid(s) might be somewhere between ‘thrilled’ and ‘terrified’. They might be happy for their parent’s new chapter, but there could also be a dash of sadness and anxiety about this new family configuration.
So when it comes to involving your kids in the wedding, it’s like adding a sprinkle of salt to your meal – it can enhance the flavour, but too much can spoil it.
It’s essential to consider their preferences. Want to include your children in the ceremony? Fantastic! Just make sure it’s their choice.
So, gather everyone around and have a heart-to-heart chat. Ask the kids how they’d like to be part of the big day. Consequently, flexibility is your secret sauce here. Mix their wishes with your vision as a couple, and voilà, you’ve got a recipe for a memorable wedding day that celebrates your unique family love.
In the end, this wedding isn’t just about saying “I do” as a couple; it’s about saying “We do” as a family.

The couple were kind enough to leave me this incredible review. I’ll let their words do the talking.
“Julie was our celebrant for our wedding at Circa 1876 and I can’t recommend her services enough. From the very first interaction we had with her, she made us feel so at ease and special. Julie is so thoughtful, caring, helpful and funny. Right at the beginning she asked us for 3 words to describe what we envisioned for our ceremony and she absolutely nailed it. The information and assistance she provided throughout the process was super helpful as well. She really does create a ceremony that is unique and perfect for each couple, it was beautiful. Our friends and family have been raving about her and our ceremony since, they all said it was like no ceremony they have ever been to before which I took as the best compliment. Thank you Julie, our wedding would not have been the same without you!”
