Step into Brittney + Ben’s vibrant festival wedding at Weddings in the Wilde, Wildes Meadow, Kangaroo Valley. From colourful blooms to a shot-ski celebration, this unforgettable day was packed with love, laughter, and bold personal touches!
The first few minutes of Brittney + Ben’s ceremony were packed with surprises and set the tone for what would be an unforgettable day. Guests were led en masse through the woods to a secret ceremony spot, buzzing with excitement and curiosity. As they arrived, they were greeted by the sounds of live musicians. The arbour and the bench ends were covered with a kaleidoscope of rainbow flowers, an explosion of colour that hinted this was no ordinary celebration.
Once everyone was seated, I kicked things off in my signature style: a quick shot of whiskey with the groom. Then I warmed up the crowd, encouraging them to bring all the good vibes. I didn’t need to ask twice—this lot was clearly ready for a party.
Just as the crowd were steading themselves for the arrival of the little ones, Classic by MKTO blared from the speaker the beer boys Andy + Daniel strutted in, handing out cans from their beer belts to random guests.
Next up were the paige boys, Artie (5), Cooper (2) and Duncan (10 months) who stole the show by rolling in on their own tiny cars to a soundtrack of Riding’ (Dirty) by Chamillionaire. The crowd erupted with laughter.
Flower girl Stella (4) gave groom Ben a huge hug at the top of the aisle—absolute cuteness overload.
By the time the bridesmaids entered, dressed in showstopping, brightly coloured dresses, the smiles were unstoppable.
Then came the moment everyone was waiting for: Brittney, the stunning bride, arrived arm-in-arm with her parents. The groom’s tears set off a chain reaction, and soon there wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
Laughter wasn’t far behind, though, as I launched into a cheeky roast of the bridal party. They took it like champs—thanks to the couple’s brilliant material that made the jokes land perfectly and then all the guests participated in a Pledge To Enjoy to ensure the vibes stayed high!
This was the dream crowd, the kind every celebrant hopes for: guests who were fully invested in the emotions of the moment, willing to laugh, cry, and let the ceremony sweep them away on a journey.
It’s these little choices—the music, the secret ceremony location, the joyful burst of colour, and, yes, your choice of celebrant—that create a ceremony’s emotional impact. So, when you’re planning your big day, don’t overlook the details and don’t hold back on the personalisation. They’re what transform a good wedding into a truly unforgettable one.
It’s fascinating to observe the transformation of the bridesmaids throughout the ceremony—the subtle shift from nervous anticipation to pure happiness. As they line up before walking down the aisle, there’s often a flicker of apprehension on their faces. And it’s no wonder! For a brief moment, they’re in the spotlight. All eyes are on them, and the stakes feel high: don’t trip, don’t stumble, and definitely don’t be the bridesmaid remembered for an epic fall. Add in the challenge of wearing new shoes that might not be broken in yet, and you’ve got a recipe for some perfectly understandable jitters.
As they take their first steps down the aisle, there’s often a composed, measured pace. You can almost see their internal pep talk trying to remember the pointers I gave them: Don’t forget to smile! Don’t walk too fast! Hold the bouquet low!
During the ceremony, the bridesmaids are often swept up in the same emotional journey as everyone else. They laugh at my witty anecdotes (hopefully!) that reveal little glimpses of the couple’s quirks. And then, just as they’re catching their breath, a heartfelt moment lands—a story about the couple’s first date or a vow so raw and genuine it brings tears to their eyes. Their emotions mirror the rhythm of the ceremony, a beautiful mix of laughter and tears.
Fast forward to the end of the ceremony, and it’s a completely different scene. Those same bridesmaids walk back down the aisle radiating pure delight. The nerves have melted away, replaced with laughter, and wide grins. They’ve gone from “don’t mess this up” to “I’m part of something magical!”—and it shows in every step.
It’s a reminder of the emotional journey a wedding ceremony creates—not just for the couple, but for everyone involved. For the bridesmaids, the transition from pre-ceremony butterflies to post-ceremony bliss captures the essence of what weddings are all about: connection, celebration, and shared joy.
Moments like these are what make weddings so special. They remind us that the magic isn’t just in the grand gestures or perfect details; it’s in the little transformations, the fleeting emotions, and the stories woven through the day. Whether it’s the couple’s heartfelt vows, the collective sigh when the groom tears up, or the bridesmaids’ relief-turned-excitement, these moments create the memories you’ll hold onto forever.
Ever heard of a shot-ski? No? Neither had I until Brittney and Ben introduced me to it: it’s a game-changer. A shot-ski is a ski that’s been “retired from active duty,” now reimagined with shot glasses attached in place of the usual bindings, allowing a group to do a shot all at once. It’s equal parts hilarious and genius, and it perfectly suited the fun-loving vibe of their wedding.
After the ceremony, while all the guests took a celebratory shot to mark the moment, Brittney and Ben decided to mark their announcement as THE PROUDFOOTS with a bang——by doing their shots together on the shot-ski. It had everyone in stitches, made even funnier by the fact that the sign was up-side-down.
One of my favourite parts of a wedding day is connecting with the guests. Normally, I try to strike a balance: putting my best foot forward with the parents and extended family, sharing a few warm exchanges to set the tone, while bantering a bit more playfully with the bridal party and friends. But at Britteny and Ben’s wedding, that formality went straight out the window. From the moment I arrived, I knew this was a crowd who wanted me to let my hair down and join the fun.
Both families were so easy going and welcoming that I didn’t have to hold back my playful side. It felt less like I was “the celebrant” and more like I was part of their extended circle of friends and family for the day. I had cheeky chats with Ben’s groomsmen, shared heartfelt moments with Brittney’s mum, and even found myself having an absolute riot of a conversation with Ben’s granny—who has a sharp sense of humour!
This kind of atmosphere that we created at Weddings in the Wilde is what I live for at weddings—where the energy is warm, inclusive, and full of laughter. It’s not just about creating a ceremony; it’s about becoming part of a community, even if just for one unforgettable day.
I’d been waiting for the perfect wedding to debut my electric pink suit for what felt like forever. When Brittney told me about the vibrant bridesmaid dresses and the explosion of colourful flowers they’d planned, I started to think this might finally be the one.
But even with all that colour, I wasn’t 100% sure if rocking such a bold look would be too much. The last thing I ever want is to pull focus from the couple on their big day, so I packed two outfits—one being more understated —and decided to feel things out at the rehearsal.
When I chatted with Brittney about the suit, she lit up and said she loved the idea. “The pink’s perfect,” she said, giving me the green light. So, on the day, I went for it—and let me tell you, it felt incredible to match the energy of such a vibrant wedding.
I’ll always consult with my couples on the palette and vibe of the day. If you want me to keep it classy and understated, blend into the background, or go bold and colourful to match the party, I’m all in. My wardrobe is practically part of my celebrant’s toolbox: a dress (or suit) for every type of celebration. And whether it’s electric pink, a neutral tone, or something totally unexpected, I’ll always make sure it feels just right for your day.
Brittney + Ben didn’t just have a wedding—they threw an actual festival. They pulled off what so many dream of, but few manage to bring to life in such a spectacular way.
From food trucks serving up mouthwatering eats to brilliant musicians keeping the energy high, every element was carefully planned to make this wedding feel like an unforgettable celebration.
Picture an outdoor dance floor that had everyone throwing shapes under the stars, DIY decorations that added a personal, handmade touch, and, of course, a bouncy castle—because why not?
The bride Brittney is such a legend. She rocked a pair of badass cream cowboy boots, completely unbothered by the mud on the bottom of her dress—perfectly matching the laid-back, fun-loving vibe of the day.
This was a wedding that wasn’t about sticking to tradition or following any rules; it was about creating an experience that felt uniquely them. Every detail, from the playful touches to the festival-inspired layout, made it clear that this was going to be a day full of joy, laughter, and pure celebration.
Everyone, from the couple to the guests and even the vendors, had an absolute blast, embracing the freedom and fun of the whole festival vibe. It was the ultimate fusion of personality and celebration, and it was an absolute joy to be a part of: a wedding I’ll surely remember forever.
“We just wanted to say a massive thank you!!!!! Again for making our day so memorable and magical. It is crazy how many people raved about you and the way you delivered the ceremony. We knew you were the right fit for us and can’t thank you enough for making it so light hearted and fun. The after party was hectic and we are still recovering!! It was great to see everything come together but you were a huge part of that. We still have people talk about our wedding and how great you were. We are eternally grateful!! I often tear up thinking about parts of the ceremony lol. Wish we could do it all again.”
