Have you ever wondered what getting married feels like? As a celebrant who has performed over 400 weddings, I’ve witnessed firsthand the beautiful range of emotions that occur during a wedding ceremony. From the exhilarating highs of love to the nerve-wracking jitters that sometimes surface, I’ve seen it all. But fear not, because I’m here to guide you through it all, helping to calm those nerves and ensure that your special day is filled with nothing but love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
The first five minutes of the ceremony are a wild ride! Buckle up, because it’s a whirlwind of nerves, anticipation, excitement, and quite possibly, a few tears – and that’s just a taste of what getting married feels like for the guests!
As you stand at the threshold of one of life’s most significant moments, it’s natural for nerves to tingle and jitter. Your heart may flutter like a bird trying to escape its cage, and your palms might feel clammy despite your best efforts to keep them dry. Every step down the aisle feels like a leap into the unknown, a leap towards a different future.
With every passing second, anticipation builds like a crescendo in a symphony. You catch glimpses of your partner-to-be, and your breath catches in your throat at the sight of their smile or the tears welling in their eyes. The weight of the moment hangs heavy in the air, thick with promise and possibility.
Excitement courses through your veins like electricity, setting your senses alight. You can almost taste the joy, feel it bubbling up from deep within, threatening to spill over and consume everything in its path. This is the moment you’ve dreamed of, the culmination of countless shared hopes and dreams.
And then, as if by magic, the first tears appear (maybe!). They shimmer in the eyes of your loved ones, mirrors to the emotions swirling within. These tears aren’t born of sadness but of overwhelming joy, the kind that threatens to burst forth and wash away all doubt and fear.
In those first five minutes, as you take those initial steps towards your future together, you’ll experience a symphony of emotions unlike any other. Nerves, anticipation, excitement, and tears blend together in a beautiful cacophony, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in your love story.
Experience the first few minutes of Jordyn & Kurtis’ ceremony through a stunning series of photos skillfully captured by the dynamic duo Erica & Erin from Margan. Every moment, every interaction, and every emotion that encapsulates what getting married feels like has been beautifully immortalised in their lens.
Wondering what lies in store as you journey through the heart of your wedding ceremony? Brace yourself, because the middle is where the magic truly unfolds, where promises are made, and hearts are bound together in love and commitment.
As the ceremony progresses, there’s a palpable shift in the atmosphere. The initial nerves may have settled, replaced by a sense of calm and serenity. It’s as if time itself slows down, allowing you to savour every precious moment.
Throughout the middle of your ceremony, you’ll be surrounded by the warmth and love of your friends and family. Their presence is a constant reminder of the support and encouragement that surrounds you as you embark on this journey together.
As you stand before each other, ready to exchange vows, your guests will be hanging off my every word. They’ll hear tales of your adventures and quirks, infused with love and a healthy dose of good-natured teasing.
Many couples choose to incorporate unity rituals into their ceremony, symbolising the merging of two lives into one partnership. Jordyn & Kurtis chose to ‘tie the knot’ literally and figuratively. A handfasting adds a bit of depth and a bit more meaning. Your nans will think it’s particularly lovely.
With a little help from me, you’ll deliver knock-out vows that sum up your love, your dreams, and your promises to each other. Sure, you might be nervous, but it’ll be oh so worth it. And don’t worry, I will make sure you’re well-prepped and ready to wow your partner and your guests alike. And don’t worry, I’ll have tissues on hand for anyone who needs them.
And then you’ll put a ring on it, which will symbolise to the world that you are off officially off the market until death does you part.
After all the buildup, anticipation, and heartfelt moments, it’s finally time for the climax of your ceremony – the kiss. Get ready to make hearts race and cheers erupt as you seal your vows with a moment of pure passion.
As you lean in for that first kiss as newlyweds, it’s a glorious moment that captures the essence of your love story. The crowd holds its breath, eager to witness this very public display of passion. And if you’re feeling brave enough to add a little extra flair, like a back dip inspired by Jordyn and Kurtis, get ready for the whoops and hollers that are sure to follow. It’s a moment that’s bound to go off!
But before the party kicks into high gear, there’s some official business to attend to. While your singer or DJ entertains the crowd with some tunes, I’ll whisk you off to the side to sign the paperwork. Meanwhile, your I DO Crew will be on hand to hand out confetti and maybe even a few drinks, ensuring that the ceremony ends in style.
As the witnesses sign the paperwork, you’ll have a well-deserved moment to snuggle with your boo. Any residual stress from the morning will evaporate into thin air as you bask in the afterglow of your love-filled ceremony. By now, you’ll be high on endorphins and the love drug oxytocin, feeling more connected than ever.
Bringing you back to the arbour, we’ll be on the downhill run to the party. With some wise words, I’ll tie up proceedings with a bow, setting the stage for the festivities to come.
Before you make your grand exit, there’s one last ceremony kiss to seal the deal. And maybe a triumphant first pump to kick off the celebration in style. As you walk back down the aisle through a sea of love and heart-shaped leaves, you’ll be surrounded by the overwhelming joy and support of your loved ones.
As the final moments of the ceremony unfold, surrounded by the love and support of your closest friends and family, there’s a profound sense of awe and gratitude. It’s a whirlwind of emotions – from nervous excitement to overwhelming joy – as you stand hand in hand ready to embark on this incredible journey together. Time seems to stand still, and the world fades away, leaving only the two of you and the promise of forever. It’s a feeling like no other, a moment you’ll treasure in your hearts for a lifetime.
So there you have it……now you know what getting married feels like!

What can I say, Julie was beyond fantastic, from the very beginning she has been extremely helpful and dedicated to making our day as special as it was. We couldn’t have picked a more passionate celebrant to guide us through our day. Julie is extremely passionate about what she does, she also just projects love, it’s hard not to be wrapped up in the beauty and love of your big day when talking to Julie.
She is easy going, light-hearted and very kind. She also knows what she’s talking about leading up to our big day we didn’t know whether we wanted to do a rehearsal prior but I am so glad we did Julie really put us at ease giving us lots of helpful tips so that we could get the most out of our ceremony and really enjoy it.
Our ceremony was so beautiful, Julie really did an incredible job including everything we wanted and more. We’ve received so many compliments about our ceremony since the most common being how much they loved how personal our ceremony was to us. Honestly I am so glad we were lucky enough to find Julie to be our celebrant our ceremony wouldn’t have been as special without her. Thank you again Julie for making our wedding beautiful.
