On Sunday I had a great time at Finn’s baby naming ceremony at Gillieston Heights Community Centre. It was all themed around The Very Hungry Caterpillar β balloons, cake, the whole shebang! ππ° Seriously, who doesn’t love that classic book?! πβ¨β
Choosing The Hungry Caterpillar theme for a kids’ party is a total win! It’s got that timeless charm, super cool visuals, a dash of education, and, let’s not forget, you can easily snag on-theme decorations. I mean, who doesn’t want to make things a breeze for moms, right? It’s like giving them a shortcut to awesome party planning! ππ
For my naming ceremonies, I always find out why the parents picked that name. Meagan and Jason went with Finn because, well, they just liked it and it was the only one they could agree on. Plus, with their Irish roots, it totally worked. Finn is an Irish name that means ‘fair’ or ‘blessed,’ and we even have an Irish folklore hero with the same name β wise, brave, intelligent. Hereβs hoping little Finn grows up just as awesome as his namesake!β

After the ceremony, I had some awesome chats with the grandparents about their Irish roots and holiday storiesβοΈ

These baby namings are all about gathering the important people who will guide the child and expressing our hopes for their future……so Meagan and Jason had this genius idea. They got a lovely book where all the guests could jot down their ‘one wish for Finn.’ π I kicked it off with my wish for him to be a kickass, caring member of society. Fingers crossed, right?β
Picking the Gillieston Heights Community Centre for the baby naming ceremony was a great idea. The room is bright, has AC, and opens to a grassy area for the kiddos to play. Tons of tables and chairs, and it’s a blank canvas for you to decorate as you want. Plus, there is plenty of parking out front! ππΆ
Meagan had a blast putting together The Very Hungry Caterpillar cake β she got her hands on this fantastic do-it-yourself (DIY) kit that came with everything she needed. I’m talking about all the bits and bobs, including the icing and the decorations. Easy-peasy and loads of fun β that’s how she’d sum up her cake-decorating adventure with The Hungry Caterpillar DIY kit!

As well as enjoying the cake, I had another sweet surprise β I ran into Liz, one of my 2022 brides! π Embarrassingly I didnβt recognise her initially. In my defense, she shaved her head for charity, so she looked pretty different. We got to catch up, meet her little dude Arthur, and of course, I begged her for her wedding pics. Never too late, right? π€·ββοΈπ β
