Last Minute Chats at Circa 1876
I don’t remember Oscar being nervous before the ceremony at Circa 1876. He is a person that carries himself in a way that radiates confidence – others are drawn to him.
We’d had a rehearsal the day before so everyone was calm. There was no frantic running around worrying about what, when, where or how.
All the dapper groomsmen – Mark, Linus, Zak, and Thom- and myself were just there chatting, in the moment……… READY.
Perfection
It is a term I try to steer clear of.
Your wedding day is likely the most planned event you will ever work on, so I understand you want everything to be as perfect as possible, just like you imagined.
However, I don’t think anyone should be striving for it on their wedding day. For a start, true perfection is not possible, so seeking it has the potential to leave you miserable.
But I am a planner at heart and there is nothing wrong with being prepared, having high attention to detail, liking symmetry, and aiming for high standards as long as you are relaxed about it, if everything doesn’t work out exactly as you’d pictured. And like all others, that’s what I did at this Circa 1876 wedding.
Ultimately though, as cliché as it sounds, if you gained the world’s most wonderful partner, and got to marry your best friend surrounded by all the people that you love, then nothing else matters.
Having said all that, these three bouquets all being held at the exact same height at Jaden & Oscar’s Circa 1876 wedding, while not important in the grand scheme of things, are definitely pleasing to my brain.
If you are a bit like me, then I might be a near-perfect celebrant match for you.
Long Aisles
Every aisle is a bit nerve-wracking. This Circa 1876 aisle is no exception; It can be a strange surreal moment, almost an out-of-body experience, with all eyes on you.
But despite this, I love the drama of a long aisle. Don’t be scared of it.
It builds anticipation and excitement, in a good way.
Your photographer will have plenty of time to get some candid shots.
You can have a decent chat with whoever is walking you down the aisle.
Try not to fly down the aisle. I get that you are nervous or maybe you are excited to marry your partner and just want to get it done without delay, but stop to take it all in.
Breathe, look, listen and watch.
That thirty seconds will go by in a millisecond, and you need to just take your time.
Don’t rush it.
Just walk normally.
It’s not a race.
Not too fast and not too slow.
This is a moment you’ll remember forever.
Jaden wore glasses for her wedding at Circa 1876
I’m not a spectacle wearer so I never gave any thought to whether someone should wear glasses on their wedding day or not until Jaden mentioned it to me.
Apparently, there is a lot of pressure on brides to keep their weddings as specks-free-zones while grooms get to rock their glasses without much thought. It’s pretty common for lots of well-meaning people to advise the bride to wear contacts.
Despite this, Jaden decided to wear her snazzy pink glasses to her Circa 1876 wedding. She told me she just wouldn’t feel like herself without them. I can’t think of a better reason to buck the trend.
