Ben, there is not much to say that you haven’t already heard. You know me better than anyone else, and you’ve never tried to change me. You love me for all of my strengths and all of my flaws. No one knows me like you do, and no one understands you the way I do.

My favourite thing about you is the way you try to understand me. You give me the benefit of the doubt every time, and you always seem to ‘just get it.’ When people say they are marrying their best friend, it always sounds so cheesy and cliché, but it couldn’t be truer for me. You’re always there with chocolate or prosecco, ready to join me in my fury or tell me that it’ll be okay. You are genuine, you are real and you are the best thing to have happened to me.

I vow that today, nothing will change, I will continue to never get up before 5am to make your work lunches. But I swear to always love you as intently as I did the moment we met both of our boys, and as deeply as the lines on your forehead.

When I'm with you I feel home & safe. You bring me down to earth and encourage me to be myself always. I love how silly and weird we can be together. I knew you were husband material when you would pick me up from work so that I didn't have to catch the train after doing a night shift, when you take me to medical appointments - you look after us and you also know how to fix stuff and reach tall places that I can't.

I love that you are family orientated and value your relationships. I love that you make a big effort in learning my family's (Filipino) culture. You're really good at making Filipino BBQ and can make banana ketchup from scratch (I would just use the bottled stuff).

I love your sense of humour, how you have an incredible way of thinking that makes me laugh. You may not be constantly funny but when you do act or say something funny, it’s sublime.

Your support is unbelievable. Just as long as I’m making the right decision! You have the ability to pull me out of a funk when I feel things are getting overwhelming.
Your cooking: I eat like a man-dog so I’m grateful it’s delightful.
I also love your family and friends which of course makes things a lot easier!

What brought me here is simple, I’m here today because of love, I love you. It’s as simple as that. Oh and Lynn’s Prado, I drove that here.

We can ask for happiness, joy, more laughter and good times. While all that is true, we need to accept that from time to time it won’t always be the case. We’ll have trying times and I look forward to those too. Because it’s with YOU, I don’t want to do any of life without YOU.

A long time ago in a galaxy very, very close…I was lucky enough to find the love of my life. I thought as soon as we met “I’m gonna make her an offer she can’t refuse” and look where we are today!
Although, I believe the feeling was mutual because after a while I was thinking to myself “Miss Crouch, you’re trying to seduce me. Aren’t you?” Even the first time you told me that you loved me, and I was in disbelief and shock, I almost felt like saying, “You talking to me? You talking to me?”.
When it finally came time to pop the question, my ultimatum was very clear. “Come with me if you want to live…a happy life”. Thus began our plans to “Get to the chapel” which sadly have taken much longer than we anticipated. Thankfully with Julie here we’ve got the luck of the Irish on our side so Julie, “Go ahead, make our day.”
And as China so rudely interrupted our wedding plans again and again, I remember you said to me, “This means you’ll be marrying me twice you know?” to which I replied “Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn”.
I promise to carry the weight of the world with you as the Man with No Name carried the same Poncho through one of the greatest trilogies of all time.
I promise to have a bigger heart for you because if the crew of the Orca had listened to Chief Brody’s advice of “You’re gunna need a bigger boat”, maybe things may have ended differently.
I promise to never abandon you as Samwise Gamgee so faithfully demonstrated to Frodo Baggins from the Shire right through to Mount Doom.

We have shared 13 years, 24 hours of flight, 17000kms long distance, 5 homes, a 6 year anniversary and 2 cancelled weddings. We spent years apart, years together and finally we are here getting our happily ever after. I guess my intuition was right: our love can survive anything.

Dara, you are the love of my life: my tall, dark and handsome, my best friend and my soulmate. You make me laugh. You console me. You help me see reason when I’m blind. You lift me up and brighten my day. You teach me every day that the love we share makes all of the tough times worth it. You know the real me and understand me better than anyone else.

I studied for this moment and everything I read described this as standing on a precipice peering over at the future. But that doesn’t make sense to me. That makes it seem like this is supposed to be a terrifying, utterly life-changing event and I don’t know about you, but that’s not what I’m feeling. Instead, I think that this moment is more like a sunrise. Not your ordinary sunrise though, because this isn’t an ordinary day. It’s more like the kind of sunrise you get in early spring, where the ground is crunchy, the air is crisp, the world is so at peace, and everything just feels right, because standing here with you, everything really does simply feel right.
And I could stand here all day and wax poetic about you and I and our future, but that wouldn’t be me. However, I couldn’t find the right words to say to keep it short and sweet either.

Elle, My love. We made it! Together! Here in front of our family and friends.
I am so excited to be able to call you my wife, to continue to do life together and to keep loving you every day.
For those in the know, we are well aware that National Leadership Camp, is a life changing experience. What wasn’t so obvious was how amazing that change would be!
Two days after we met, we were sitting in the auditorium, and were guided through writing poetry about our past, present, and future. My future poem included a mystery ‘you’ character, described as

I didn’t know I was being both poetic and prophetic. It clicked pretty soon after that, and after another poetic piece Davelle began.
Since there has been Davelle, there has been loads of adventure, challenges, laughter, and struggles, but through it all our love has blossomed, grown, and endured.
Elle, I love you, you are my reason for living, my comfort in trials and my joy in celebration.

Instead I’ve found myself at a wedding, and weirder… it’s mine. That risky move to download a dating app ended up with me winning the lotto – because somehow I managed to snag you. You, with your cheeky grin, that cute crinkle at your eye when you smile, your dad joke sense of humour, and your serious attitude when it comes to doing something whether it’s cooking a roast chicken or fixing your car.
I love all of your qualities and accept every part of you – just as you are. You are caring and devoted to raising our chonk children, you see a problem and don’t hesitate to fix it, you don’t mind getting your hands dirty – literally greased up if necessary, and above all, you openly share your feelings and thoughts.
I vow to you that whenever you stop meal planning I will cook creamy pasta and schnitty.
I promise to not cry as you put Narcos on Netflix again.
I swear I won’t ask you too many questions as you watch your car shows. Though I’ve already forgotten what an exhaust manifold is. And an apron.
I will hold your hands when we walk. Even though they’re sweaty.
I promise to try and ask Gordon Ramsey to try your Roast Chicken. He will tell you that it is fucking fantastic and you will probably cry.
