When you call yourself a professional celebrant, but you forget to turn your microphone on! 🎤 Cara, the Event Manager at Caves Coastal Bar & Bungalows had a good aul laugh at me trying and failing miserably to wrangle the guests to sit down 🤣 Pregnancy brain is a real thing! Yep, I had to deal with forgetfulness and lots of memory problems. I’m sure it was to do with all hormonal changes and sleep deprivation 💤 Thankfully that was my only misdemeanour for the day and the rest of the ceremony went without a hitch 🌈
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TYPICAL FAMILY Family structures that were once considered non-traditional or alternative, aren’t out of the ordinary anymore. There is no one size fits all model nowadays and so wedding traditions are changing to reflect family diversity. Thank gaaawwwd, finally! When you’ve a special relationship with both your father Tim and your step-father Mick, it just makes sense for them BOTH to walk you down the aisle. No need to overcomplicate things. There were handshakes and hugs and kisses galore, and maybe even a few tears too. This moment with Kodee and her Dads was beautiful. Wedding days are about more than just romantic love!
THE DRIZZLE DIDN’T RUIN THE DAY 🌧️ It’s all very well to have a Plan B but what happens when you make the call to have the ceremony outside and then the dark clouds roll in mid-ceremony? I had to think on my (very pregnant) feet when I saw some raindrops fall on my Kindle half-way through Kodee & Matt’s love story. With a few quick mental somersaults, I figured out what I needed to do. I finished off the ceremony while still including all the juicy bits. I knew I couldn’t cut the personalised vows or the kiss but I had to sacrifice the handfasting and the signing to shave a few critical minutes off. It worked out. After the ceremony, we hot-footed it to bridal suite balcony with just Kodee & Matt and their close family members where we huddled together for their ‘tying the knot’ ritual. It was spontaneous and fun and one of those moments I’ll remember forever……..and yet another great example of how you don’t always need a signing table to get the job done!
