When one of my most innately stylish couples got married, I knew it was going to be a glamourous wedding. “Go big or go home” was Madi & Jason’s motto. Money can buy you nice things for your wedding but if you don’t have much natural style, then no amount of cash you throw around will make you look good. It’s about paying no attention to seasonal trends. It’s about trusting your own judgement and creating your own look. The truly stylish are comfortable in their own skin and they just know when something looks good without needing validation from others. Madi wore a show-stopping couture dress. Their monochromatic colour scheme for the wedding party made a bold impact: the women were chic in white bridesmaid dresses holding classic white roses and the men were dapper in black tie suits.
I spy with my little 👁️….. a celebrant in this photo. I’m there dressed in black to match Madi & Jason’s classy theme, blending in and not sticking out. 🖤 I’m in between Jason and his best man Chris, not taking up much space. Doing my job. Standing out for the right reasons (my words) and not because I am centre stage. 🖋️ That leaves the photographer plenty of opportunities to capture stunning photos like this. 📸
……..and when I do have to come in between you both (which isn’t very often), I’ll make it my mission to use that prime position. I’ll look straight at you and remind you of something you said to me a year ago in our planning meeting, and hopefully you will throw your head back and laugh out loud just like the effervescent Madi. And like a Mexican wave, the laughter will bubble up and spread to your partner, then ripple through the wedding party, leap to the parents in the front row and then continue it’s trajectory all the way to the cheap seats at the back.
There are no boring ceremonies here. I promise. 🙏🏻
